Zardari’s indictment in two NAB references deferred again
Islamabad: the accountability court on Wednesday postponed the indictment of former President Asif Ali Zardari and his sister Faryal Talpur on money laundering and pink links to residency, ARY News reported.
The court postponed consideration of the indictment in the NABU case until August 07 due to the absence of a lawyer for former President Farouk H. Naik.
It should be mentioned here that the court previously set July 29 to charge Asif Ali Zardari and his sister Faryal Talpur with money laundering and pink residency references. An aid lawyer spoke on behalf of the naic and requested a hearing date after August 05. He told the court that Farooq Naik could not appear in court because of the meeting of the Senate in Muzaffarabad, scheduled for August 05.
The court also granted Asif Ali Zardari and Faryal Talpur's request to be excused from participating in the case.
Accountability court judge Azam Khan said that the accused should appear regularly in court after the indictment and opening of the trial.
He adjourned the hearing until August 07.
Zardari, his sister Faryal Talpur and others are accused of bribery in money laundering at the pink residence and other links filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
